The Candidate:
As an experienced business professional in the music/media industry the successful candidate will show high levels of business acumen coupled with the experience, energy and gravitas to lead ground-breaking negotiations at senior levels within the music industry. Furthermore, the role involves managing the ongoing relationship and acting as the main contact point for all business and marketing activities between Nokia and the label.

Responsibilities:
· Leads the negotiation teams that deliver the business and relationship with a Major label
· Acts as the Nokia contact point for the Major label
· Within Nokia, manages all business towards that Major
· Manages the global artist driven international promotions and campaigns with the relevant Major across the Nokia Music business
· Continually seeks to maximize business opportunities with the labels
· Coordinates with Nokia devices and markets teams on local deal execution
REPORTING:
Reports to Director: Global Content & Business Operations
RELATIONS WITHIN NOKIA MUSIC:
· With all entities that have a stake in the implementation of agreements with the label (e.g. local teams, content operations, commercials and reporting)
· With the Local Label Managers to communicate label specific issues
· With the Head of Local Labels Relations to plan the implementation of the campaigns across all territories
· With the local Labels Managers & Music Editors to ensure a timely merchandising of campaigns on the services
RELATIONSHIPS WITHIN NOKIA:
· With Marketing, Legal, Local Sales and Marketing
RELATIONSHIPS OUTSIDE NOKIA:
· Industry bodies as required
· Global Rights Holders
· Nokia partners as required
PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL CRITERIA:
· Nokia Music revenues and profitability of the business
• Timely closure of negotiations
• Quality of agreements
• Success of implementation
• Number, profile and geographical coverage of promotions
• Quality of relationship within and outside of the Nokia Music business teams
· Adherence to Nokia Values
• Quality of partnerships developed

Qualifications

QUALITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
• Degree or higher suitable professional qualification
• Significant experience within media/music industry and preferably the digital music sector
• Very successful career to date with evidence of excellent business success
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Reliable and good self organization skills
Excellent presentation skills

  • Southern Records, a distributor of numerous independent labels, is looking for an experienced sales and marketing person for our Chicago office.
  • We are looking for a self-starter who can join our organization and make an immediate contribution. This position is open now.
  • This is a full-time position with benefits; salary is commensurate with experience.
Candidates should possess the following attributes:

-An immense passion for unique/independent/underground music.
-Prior music industry sales experience.
-A self-starter who is able to work independently.

-Ability to multi-task and adjust on the fly.
-Can attend musical events/concerts on a regular basis.
-Some amount of secondary schooling/professional training/life experience and/or equivalent industry experience.
